Annual Ambiance is located in the latest addition to Sandy Ridge Farms.  This is a state of the art greenhouse equipped with the latest climate controlling technology.  There are two roof vents that run the full 216 foot length of the greenhouse, allowing us to cool the entire greenhouse, and the building is heated with high efficintcy furnaces, some of which are 99.99% efficient.  All of this is controlled by a central computer that tracks the intensity of the sun, the outside temperature, wind direction and speed, and precipitation to control the environment with in the greenhouse.

This building is attached to our growing facility which is comprised of two renovated turkey barns left from our family’s 50 years in the turkey industry.  We have converted these two buildings into 60,000 square feet of greenhouse space.  This has definitely been an adventure, to say the least, we have survived strong spring storms, freak snow, and the loss of a roof in the middle of March exposing 12,000 freshly planted hanging baskets to near freezing temperatures.  We owe our success and survival of these trials to the great family and friends that we have been blessed with, and we know that we are being looked after from above as well.  These building aren’t as high-tech as the newer ones but they sure do a great job of growing flowers, it might be the residual fertilizer left in the rafters from 50 years of turkeys, but we like to think it is our excellent staff’s attention to detail.

We also have two greenhouses that are used for growing specific items.  One we call the Chapel, it looks like it has a cathedral ceiling, we grow a majority of our Petunias, all of our Pansies, and anything else that likes it cool.  The other greenhouse, the Tunnel, we grow items such as Vinca, Torenia, and Lantana these are all items that like it HOT.  Since this greenhouse doesn’t cool as efficiently as the others we use it as our hot house.
